DESIGN EXPERIMENTATION
From my deconstructing draping session, I wanted to do some designs as development from the experimentation. Although, I found it extremely hard to emulate the mood of my creations by purely drawing them. I kept coming to a design block and feeling uninspired despite all my excitement and enthusiasm front the previous draping challenge.
We were asked to produce some observational drawings from the previous task which I chose to look back on to help me overcome this design block. I drew some more observational drawings of the whole piece and details that I particularly liked and photocopied them numerous times and at different scales. I wanted to apply the same technique that I used with my illustrations. Chopping them up and distorting them allowed me to design with the detail whilst still being free enough to experiment with shape and placement. This ultimately helped me with my mental block.
The much more literal nature of the process is actually a more suitable method of designing when dealing with something like deconstruction.
