FINAL PRINTS - BEAU SCARLETT-PITT 26/09/14
Unfortunately the last day of the print workshop has come to an end. I had prepared three prints (see above) all related to my structural attachment brief. I am extremely happy with all these prints and was excited to see how they would all look on a garment, we were told to select a catwalk image with just a plain white garment. We then had to prepare the image for the application of the print by refining backgrounds and edges to ensure a flawless finish. With the print application I decided to experiment with the scale, I found this very useful as it can give you a real insight into the outcome of a printed garment prior to making it. We then used a filter overlay to make it react like a fabric would behave on a body. This again was useful as it helped me understand the way in which the fabric would react in correlation to my print which is something I've never experienced before.
Overall print week has been an ultimate success as I have compounded all my previous knowledge of repeat pattern making, learning new skills in the process that have made me a stronger print designer. This week has urged me to include some sort of print application in my final design, I look forward to developing print ideas and seeing the final outcome.
