PRINT DAY 2

BEAU SCARLETT-PITT 25/09/14

In today's session we got given a sample image of a cluster of clouds and the task was to make that image into a repeat pattern without trap lines. I found this incredibly challenging as it was hard to replicate the original cloud shape at first due to the detailing of each individual cloud. However the use of the clone stamp tool really helped me to perfect this repeat. A few peers and I compared our cloud repeats and they were all significantly different which is the beauty of interpretation in the world of print design. We had all successfully managed to re-create this image, overcoming the immense difficulty we felt at the beginning of this task.

Throughout the day we learnt how to use various selection tools in order to suit that task we were given, these included; various lasso tools, marquee tool and the colour range select tool. Prior to this I didn't know as many methods of selection as I do now, which will definitely come in useful when designing prints in the future.

We then returned to the cloud image and got the chance to play around with it, creating a repeat using the cloud image, a ladybird image and the spots from said ladybird. This was a really fun activity as it gave me a chance to utilise my newly acquired skill set and be creative with it.

In the afternoon we were given the chance to work on our own prints for our structural attachment brief. I reopened a previous image of my stand work that I had manipulated on photoshop and transferred the arteries illustration i drew on to a new photoshop document. From this I continued working on this initially idea to develop it into a print block. I will continue working on this for friday's session, in order to have an array of prints to work with.
