STAND EXPERIMENTATION ON PHOTOSHOP

BEAU SCARLETT-PITT 14/09/14

From the stand workshop, I wanted to develop this piece in particular as I was really pleased with the outcome and saw the potential that it had via digital development.

The shape that formulates the pattern piece structure originated from a reflection that came off of my necklace. During the session, I made the decision to pin the seams on the outside as it made the shape more rigid and gave it a stronger structural presence. From looking at these seams, it reminded me of my structural theme of veins and arteries due to the connection and interlinking of pattern pieces. To develop this piece, I wanted to combine these two to really reflect my structural attachment theme, Bloodline Connections.

To make this do this, I drew artery-like shapes using the poly lasso tool, filled them with colour, and then gave them an embossed look to portray an actual artery.

Reflecting back on this little experimentation, I feel like it has connected me with my concept and helped me understand how I want to develop further ideas. This has now made me want to research veins and arteries in greater detail.
