Today’s life drawing session was extremely
useful, as it has helped me develop my artistic response to the human form. I
used a range of mediums including oil pastel, chalk pastel, pencils and
promarkers with in 5, 10, 15 minute time slots. My favorite medium was ink as
it is one that I have never really experimented with in the past, but it was
quite a liberating tool to use to show my expression and style of drawing. By each drawing, I could feel my confidence growing as I was tried bolder lines, more shading and also the application of colour.
My favorite drawing of the session was the
one featured below. I feel that this was the most interesting pose that the life
model did. I positioned myself differently as well in order to capture an
interesting angle.
Reflecting back on the session, I would say that I was proud of my efforts as I feel as if I have established my true style of drawing. the only aspect that I feel that I could have improved on was my fashion life drawing. I wasn't sure whether it was the models clothes that didn't motivate or excite me or if I need to work on my response to drawing the drapery of clothes. From looking back to my 50 designs in my sketchbook, I personally feel more comfortable drawing garments and looks that have come from my imagination and therefore feel less constriction from the reality of drawing clothes as they are in front of me.
Throughout the day I was noticing the unique textures and shapes that I had drawn as a result of hasty sketching. I was very intrigued by these said movements on the page. As development from this session, I want to look closer at the independent stokes that I have made and possibly look at them from a digital print angle and use this further on in my design process.
